I went to a conference last Spring and saw OpenCroquet. Thought it was interesting, but a lot of work. At the time, they mentioned Second Life. I didn't pay a lot of attention to it -- thinking someday. Well someday is today. I was assigned to teach a course called "Intro to Game Development." After playing with Multimedia Fusion, The 3D Game Maker, 2D and 3D graphic creation programs (Photoshop, Google Sketchup, Milkshape); we moved on into discussion MMOG -- and Second Life. Second Life is really not a game, but an MUVE -- Multi-user Virtual Environment. It is more social and relies on user creation of content much like the Sims games.
I stumbled upon a group Sloodle - who are connecting the content management system Moodle with Second Life. I joined up and attended one of their "in world" tours. "In world" is such a cute name for being "in" the Second Life virtual world.

Audioblogging working great
Well, I have "married" blogger.com with audioblogger.com and came up with a way to do a podcast without a cell phone! I did also join with feedburner to create the automation necessary for subscription service to the podcast. Talk about mobile! The quality of the audio is not "stellar," but the convenience is just that. I am hoping other faculty will see the advantages of this quick and easy way to get audio out to their students.
